Barbie Not Bound for High Court, After All The Associated Press is reporting that the Supreme Court has rejected Mattel's petition for cert in its trademark infringement case against Aqua, the creators of the dance song "Barbie Girl." I hadn't heard this song until the other weekend, when a pre-teen plugged it into the jukebox at the local Pizza Hut. I immediately started yammering about how the song was involved in a big trademark case that had been appealed to the Supreme Court. My family just looked at me like I was nuts.
